Pick up from your city hotel drive to Karen for a tour of the Karen Blixen Museum situated at the foot of the Ngong Hills. The Museum was originally the home of Karen Blixen of the Out of Africa fame. This is combined with a visit to the Giraffe Centre, an educational centre and part of African Fund for Endangered Wildlife. The park has a small herd of Rothschild’s Giraffe which are endangered specie and you will get a chance to feed them.
The Nairobi Giraffe center is located 15kms from the city center. The center was founded in 1978 to save the Rothschild Giraffe from extinction. From a safe specially constructed platform, you may hand feed and make friends with the majestic resident Giraffes. You then proceed to Karen Blixen Museum, an immensely popular tourist attraction;
The museum’s beautiful wood-panned rooms are filled with interesting archaeological artifacts. You will wind up the tour with a visit to the Utamaduni Craft Center. Here you will see the work of local wood and stone artists and also get an opportunity to purchase some souvenirs.
